International Womens Day

International Women's Day Breakfast 8.03.23

Thanks to Nicola and Michelle for hosting our #IWD2023 breakfast.

It was a great moment to get to know each other a bit more – we found ladies who are proud of healthier lifestyles, a few Karaoke queens that love to sing and dance, an ex-cop, one who comes from the largest family in NZ, a book worm, many proud mothers, a church leader and lots who love online shopping!

Nicola opened the breakfast festivities with a speech acknowledging and celebrating the extraordinary women who have come before us and broken-down barriers, those who have fought for what is equal and fair. Thanks to the women in NZ in 1893, we became the first country to allow women to vote and Auckland had her first female mayor in the British empire.

She went on to say “But International Women’s Day is also to celebrate us – you, me, the ladies beside you. We are also extraordinary women, and we make a difference every day. We are daughters, mothers, sisters, aunties, wives, partners, grandmothers, work colleagues… we carry so many hats, often taking on the role of nurse, care giver, chef, taxi driver, counsellors, therapists, agony aunts – we somehow fit so many roles into a day. We keep showing up, we soldier through, sometimes leaving our own needs to the side… and so often with a smile! So today is a chance to celebrate us, and we seriously rock!”

Happy International Women’s Day!
